Why is there dextrose in Xobaline and fructose in Energy Surge, and how much of both are in each product?

According to the manufacturer, fructose and dextrose are both excellent tableting agents for these two sublingual (under the tongue) products, the only two in the Hammer Nutrition supplement line that come in tablet form, not capsule.

In addition to their superior tableting agent properties, both sweeteners help neutralize the not-so-pleasant taste of the ingredient(s) in the products. The primary component in Energy Surge is pure adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which has a very bitter-to-acidic taste that a small amount of dextrose effectively neutralizes. There is 170 mg (0.17 gm, or 17% of one gram) of fructose in each tablet of Energy Surge, a minuscule amount. By comparison, a mere five Ritz crackers contain 240 mg of fructose.

In regards to Xobaline, the folic acid component is considered to be one of the worst tasting nutrients ever, to the point that many suggest that pure folic acid is intolerable to consume on its own. Every tablet of Xobaline, contains a meager 100 mg (0.10 gm or 10% of one gram) of dextrose to neutralize the taste of the folic acid component.

Note: There are two forms of glucose. When talking about glucose, it is almost always referring to the form which can be metabolized by animals: D-glucose, also called dextrose monohydrate or simply dextrose. The other form, L-glucose, is indigestible and therefore relatively unimportant in biochemistry, and is not the same as dextrose.
