How did Hammer get started in your country?

This year we are celebrating 10 years of Hammer in Uruguay, and we discovered the brand through one of our clients, a former triathlete who had used Hammer Gel and another competing brand in the U.S. He suggested we bring one of them here. After doing some research, we felt that Hammer would be the best option for several reasons: the product presentation, quality, support across various sports, and the continuous flow of information to help each athlete choose the product that best suits their needs. We also visited forums where everyone shared their opinions—and we weren’t wrong, because today the brand is highly regarded in our country as a line of excellent quality products.

After many back-and-forths—since Uruguay is a small country but big in sports—we succeeded in gaining the interest of Hammer USA. Today, we are proud to be the exclusive distributor in Uruguay, and we are working to incorporate more products into our lineup, always depending, of course, on authorization from the health authorities.

Among various brands, Hammer Gels are the market leader in Uruguay.

What is your personal story?

Personally, I've always been an amateur athlete, having played rugby for over 20 years. I’m a physical education teacher and indoor cycling instructor, and I’ve run several races including 10Ks, 21Ks, and 42Ks. There’s even a group of Hammer runners—I’ll share some photos of them later. I have children and family members who are also amateur athletes; they’ve participated in sports like soccer, rugby, hockey, marathons, triathlons, and road cycling.
