The Quality Difference

BY STEVE BORN

Some athletes have been using the wrong fuels in the wrong amounts for so long - and feel lousy during their workouts and races all that time - they end up assuming that's just the way it is. They equate endurance exercise with misery; it's par for the course to experience every kind of stomach distress issue there is.

The truth is that it doesn't need to be that way! Making some changes in the fuels you use, along with revisions in the amount you consume, will be a game-changer for you. We guarantee it!

Hammer Gel - Quality Energy, No G.I. Distress

There are tons of energy gels on the market, and Hammer Gel might look similar to a lot of them; however, it's what's inside that counts! Other energy gels are often made with added refined sugars, copious amounts of citric acid, and artificial flavors and colors - all inferior ingredients that predictably result in poor energy, a variety of stomach issues, and unplanned trips to the porta potty.

Hammer Gel is different! It contains complex carbohydrates (maltodextrin), with no added refined sugars, which provides the following benefits:

  • Fast-acting energy. The Glycemic Index (GI) of maltodextrin is 100, the same as pure glucose, so it elevates blood sugar levels and energy, rapidly. During exercise and immediately after, a high-GI carbohydrate is EXACTLY what you want.
  • Longer-lasting energy. Most refined sugars such as glucose do provide fast-acting energy. Unfortunately, it's a very short-lived energy that's followed by a dramatic plummet in energy levels. Commonly referred to as flash and crash, it's a most-unpleasant way to get through your workout or race. Conversely, the maltodextrin used in Hammer Gel not only boosts energy quickly, it sustains it for a longer period of time before a g-r-a-d-u-a-l decline.
  • More calories for energy. The body can efficiently digest a greater volume of calories from maltodextrin than it can from refined sugars. Having more calories available for energy production is an obvious advantage, especially when they're easily digested, which complex carbs are. If you try to match the amount of calories that maltodextrin supplies with refined sugars, the only thing you'll get for your trouble is a host of very unpleasant stomach issues.

If you want more calories available for energy production, easier digestion, fast-acting and longer-lasting energy, and undeniably less potential for stomach distress, choose complex carbohydrates (maltodextrin). It's the clear choice over refined sugars!

Another component that can produce unwanted stomach issues is citric acid. While it can enhance the flavor of an energy drink or gel, many products contain excess amounts in an effort to try and balance out the overt sweetness that comes from the sugars in the product.

Fortunately, we've been able to maintain great taste in all 13 flavors of Hammer Gel, AND meet the FDA's processing acidity requirements, without having to use copious amounts of citric acid. In fact, only four flavors contain citric acid, and we've been able to significantly lower the amount needed, while still preserving the awesome flavor.

Hammer Gel might look similar to other energy gels, but the ingredients - and benefits - are completely distinct. Switch to Hammer Gel and start enjoying quality energy and better workouts and races, without worrying about stomach issues! Hammer Gel is real endurance fuel - not sugar!
