I am a hobby cyclist who developed an interest in ultra-distance riding and races, as well as racing about 100 miles mainly in the mountains. Before cycling, I was into long-distance running, up to double marathon distances. With cycling, I started in January 2020. I simply got more and more into it, and since 2021 moved mostly towards long distances and, since end of 2022 started to ride ultra distances. I tried RAAM Solo 2023 but Food Poisoning put me out of the race after about 2145 miles. I finally completed the 3065 mile distance of RAAM Solo in 2024. In addition, I was able to do a few ultra-distance races with good results in 2023 and 2024. The most interesting results have been the winning of the Texas Longhorn500 Male division over all age groups in 2023 and 2024 as well as winning the Psycho48 48 hour race across all age groups in both years as well and holding current overall record for the 48 hour race. I like participating in the Gran Fondo race series and do a number of 12 and 24 hour races every year as well. A highlight of 2024 has been the 7-day time trial attempt around Thanksgiving weekend, setting a new World Record for non-drafting self-supported racing over 7 days.
Planning to participate in a number of Ultra-Distance races in 2025 as well as a number of Gran Fondo races and at least one more attempt to improve my current world record over a 7-day time trial, non-drafting, and self-supported.
