As the United States’ gravel cycling heartland, the flint hills of northeast Kansas hold a long day in the saddle on and off- road. This ride spans over a 111- mile route punctuated by dozens of dirt, rock, and gravel sections that give BWR Kansas its unique complexion.
The gravel portion of the bike industry will descend on the riverside town of Lawrence to be hosted by the legend himself, Dan Hughes, a 4-time Dirty Kanza 200 winner (AKA Unbound Gravel) who owns and operates Sunflower Outdoor & Bike Shop. I think we all know we are about to have a good time on our hands.
Last but certainly not least, BWR Kansas will raise money for the Steve Tilford Foundation—a Lawrence-based organization that honors a pioneer in American cycling that left a legacy of support and mentorship for youth development.
With a new venue and a new course comes a ton of new variables—that’s why we’re supporting the riders with calories they can count on. The fully stocked aid stations at BWR Kansas will include Hammer Gel, Endurolytes Fizz, HEED, and assorted flavors of our organic, vegan Hammer Bars. If you’re really going for a fast day on the bike, don’t panic—just visit the Hammer Gel fueling station during the expo and pick up a full 5 serving flask of Gel.
