From Junior National to Masters World Champion
A standout in American cycling since the early 1980s, Cale Reeder was a member of the 1982 U.S. Junior National Team, competing at the World Championships in Italy in both the road race and team time trial. After racing for the Senior National Team and the 25-man Olympic Development squad, he retired young in 1984.
Two decades later, after Silicon Valley startups and family life, Reeder rediscovered his love for cycling. Despite a near-fatal kidney rupture in 2009, he returned to win the U.S. Masters Road National Championship (2010) and the World Time Trial Championship (2012). Known for his relentless work ethic and integrity, Cale’s comeback story embodies the spirit of the Hammer Masters.
He won every major race in Northern California and went on to win a US National Championship and was world champion in the US Worlds Time Trial in South Africa.
In 2025, he added another milestone winning the Green Mountain Stage Race in Vermont, dominating four grueling stages to take both the 60+ General Classification and a podium finish in the 50+ field, a record in the event’s 24-year history.
