Anti-Fatigue Caps is truly a “there’s nothing else like it anywhere” supplement, one that greatly extends endurance by effectively neutralizing the fatigue-causing effects of ammonia build-up, often referred to as “the endurance athlete’s worst enemy.” Three well-known ammonia-scavenging compounds make up this unique formula, helping to prevent the dreaded “heavy” legs sensation and extend energy output.
What is the difference between Energy Surge and Anti-Fatigue Caps?
Energy Surge contains adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP), the principal molecule for storing and transferring energy in cells. It is often referred to as the energy currency of the cell. When you take a tablet of Energy Surge it supplies a quick-acting dose of pure energy. Energy Surge is what I refer to as a “use it when you need it supplement,” which simply means that there is no specific dosing protocol that needs to be followed. You can take 1-2 tablets shortly before a workout or race begins and every hour during. Another good time to take Energy Surge is shortly before you get to a particularly difficult part on the course… that’s a really good time for some quick energy.
While hourly dosing and also prior to a tough climb (for example) are great applications for Energy Surge, I believe that the product reveals its best benefits during the latter parts of a workout or race. That’s when our body’s natural ATP-producing capabilities have diminished. Taking Energy Surge at that time helps to “kick start” the body’s ability to produce its own ATP more efficiently.
Anti-Fatigue Caps is a completely different product than Energy Surge, as it supplies three nutrients—potassium/magnesium aspartate, l-citrulline, and OKG—that help neutralize the negative effects of excess ammonia, a primary culprit in premature fatigue. Information about the ingredients in this unique product:
- Potassium/Magnesium Aspartate - A well-known nutritionist says it best regarding aspartic acid: "Because aspartic acid increases stamina, it is good for fatigue and plays a vital role in metabolism. It is good for athletes and helps to protect the liver by aiding in the removal of excess ammonia." Studies (Agersborg and Shaw 1962, Hicks 1964, Gaby 1982) show this combination provides substantial benefit for the prevention of fatigue. Aspartic acid also combines with other amino acids to form molecules that absorb toxins and remove them from the bloodstream, aids the function of RNA and DNA, and helps to protect the liver. Additionally, the potassium/magnesium aspartate compound increases production of a key substrate, oxaloacetate, which is involved in energy production. Lastly, the compound provides the minerals potassium and magnesium to help provide protection against cramping.
- L-Citrulline – L-Citrulline is an amino acid that is found plant foods such as watermelon, onions, and garlic. L-Citrulline helps in the removal of ammonia in the muscles and liver, and, like aspartic acid, is beneficial in alleviating fatigue. L-Citrulline is a precursor for the endogenous production of l-arginine. Increased blood levels of arginine significantly boost nitric oxide (NO) content. NO acts as a potent vasodilator, relaxing the arteries, and allowing them to widen. Vasodilation is responsible for increased blood flow to tissues such as muscle fibers, which supports enhanced athletic performance and cardiovascular health.
- OKG - Both ornithine and alpha-ketoglutarate (OKG) provide a readily available, non-ammonia-producing source of glutamine in the body. Glutamine is depleted at high rates during exercise but cannot be replaced with regular glutamine as it produces ammonia on its own. OKG increases the amount of glutamine in the muscle and also helps prevent muscle catabolism. Colgan writes, "Both ornithine and alpha-ketoglutarate act in the body as an ammonia scavenger."
Suggested Dosing: 2-4 capsules 20-30 minutes prior to exercise, with additional doses of 1-2 capsules every hour.

2-4 capsules one hour prior to training. This would provide an initial dose of 500-1000 mg magnesium/potassium aspartate, and 480-960 mg of OKG, an excellent dose at the onset of an endurance workout or race.
An additional 1-2 capsules each hour, at the two-hour mark and beyond, during extended endurance sessions is also suggested.

L-Citrulline – An amino acid

Keeps your legs FRESH on big rides and long races 30-100 miles
Since I’ve introduced them to my body on 2 hour plus training rides or races I have FRESH legs throughout the effort and can push hard all the way to the end with no fatigue. Simply Magic!!

On empty stomach two and a half hour rides of 40 plus miles No heavy legs taking these capsules Without capsules definitely have heavy legs last couple miles Eating half a beat before ride has a similar effect of these capsules Capsules save the time of cooking beats in advance P.S.note the beats are for coloring in the information provided and there are some amino acids add. Don’t know if the amino acids have and effect.

As you noted, we put a few mg of beet root powder in this product to give the capsules a pink color so athletes can differentiate them from our Endurolytes during exercise. The powerful benefits of this product come from the research proven ammonia scavenging properties of the key ingredient Potassium/Magnesium Aspartate. Those are enhanced by L-Citrulline, and OKG - also great ammonia scavengers. Consuming beets or beet powder is associated with an increase in Nitric Oxide levels - certainly a good thing, but nothing to do with the benefits noted from this product. BDF
Big help on long runs
I take before this before and during my runs that exceed three hours. It has helped during the run and seems to aid in my recovery as well.
No dead legs!
After getting the “dead legs” on my 20 mile training run, I found these. While it may have been too little or too late. I started to take them prior to remaining runs and during my marathon and…no dead legs!!! Obviously this is not a scientific conclusion, just an observation.
