How much protein should I be consuming on a daily basis?
Protein intake from food and protein supplements should range from 1.2g/kg to 1.4 g/kg to 1.7 g/kg per day. To get your weight in kilograms (kg), take your weight in pounds and divide by 2.2, then multiply that number by 1.2, 1.4, or 1.7. The answer you get is the number of grams of protein you should aim for daily. Use the lowest amount (1.2) on non-workout or easy/low intensity days, use the middle amount (1.4) for periods of periods when you increase training volume and intensity, and use the highest amount (1.7) during your peak volume training and racing season.
EXAMPLE:
• 180 lb. person = 81.82 kg.
• 81.82 x 1.2 = 98 grams of protein daily
• 81.82 x 1.4 = 114.5 grams of protein daily
• 81.82 x 1.7 = 139 grams of protein daily
Why did you discontinue Vegan Protein and replace it with Plant Protein?
When we came across the extensive benefits of watermelon seed protein in our always ongoing research, and found that it also mixed extremely well and had a neutral taste, we knew we had to have it in our vegan-friendly protein powder. To accommodate this new protein source, we had to trim back a little bit on the amounts of a couple of the other proteins in the existing product. Once we did that, we felt that renaming the product Plant Protein was more universal in showing that this product was exceptional for everyone, not just for our clients who follow a plant-based diet.
When will Plant Protein be Kosher certified?
The process has already been started, and we hope to have Kosher certification by March 2026, if not sooner.
Has there been any analysis for heavy metals (specifically lead) in the new Plant Protein formula?
Yes, Hammer Nutrition products are tested for heavy metals and meet or better-established safety levels. The manufacturer of Hammer Nutrition supplements requires that all potential raw material suppliers provide a Certificate of Independent Laboratory Analysis-covering no less than 15 specific items-with EVERY shipment of raw material. One of those specifics is this:
Statement of, and References to, Industry Accepted Methods of Analytical Processes to establish that Raw Material meets FDA standards for microbial content, heavy metals, solvents, and pesticides, and results of such analysis. (Must be detailed and include the Name, Contact Person, and Phone Number of the Independent Laboratory that conducted this Testing).
BOTTOM LINE: Hammer Nutrition supplements are tested for heavy metals, with all raw materials in them meeting or bettering FDA standards.
How many of types of protein are used in Plant Protein, and what are their benefits?
We include 6 excellent plant protein sources in Plant Protein:
Organic Watermelon Seed Protein is a rich source of numerous amino acids, especially arginine, which is an amino acid that helps boost beneficial nitric oxide (NO) levels. Watermelon seed protein is also an excellent source of the branched-chain amino acids (BCAA)—leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Watermelon seed protein is high in B vitamins such as niacin, folate, thiamin, riboflavin, and pantothenic acid, and is an outstanding source of magnesium, as well as smaller amounts of other minerals. An easily digested protein, with a very mild-to-neutral taste, watermelon seed protein possesses antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.
Organic Pea Protein is an easily digested protein with an excellent amino acid profile, containing leucine, isoleucine, valine (the three branched-chain amino acids), lysine, arginine, and glutamine. An interesting characteristic of pea protein is that it assists in lowering levels of grehlin, an appetite-stimulating peptide. The result is an increased potential for feeling satiated, thus possibly helping to prevent overeating.
Organic Pumpkin Protein, derived from the nutrient-rich seeds, is not only a complete protein source, but also plentiful in vitamin K and the minerals calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, zinc, and more. Pumpkin seeds contain numerous phenols with antioxidant properties.
Organic Sacha Inchi Protein is derived from the seeds of the South America Plukenetia volubilis plant. Because it contains all nine essential amino acids, sacha inchi is considered a complete protein source. Sacha inchi is also a potent source of the essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
Organic Spirulina Powder, a microscopic single-celled alga, is a complete protein source and has the highest concentration of protein by weight of any food. Considered by many to be THE superfood of superfoods, spirulina is vitamin- and mineral-dense, and rich in enzymes and antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase. It's a potent source of chlorophyll (second only to chlorella) and essential fatty acids. Spirulina is also considered a blood-building nutrient, primarily due to its polypeptide content (called phycocyanin). Additionally, spirulina is believed to help maintain digestive system health by serving as a food/fuel source for beneficial intestinal flora.
Organic Chlorella Powder is another single-celled alga and, like spirulina, is a complete protein, loaded with chlorophyll and essential fatty acids. Chlorella is perhaps the most vitamin- and mineral-dense "green food" available, including a complete B vitamin profile. (Chlorella has more vitamin B12 by weight than liver!) Chlorella also contains naturally occurring RNA and DNA for assisting in cellular growth and repair, and is considered an "eye health" nutrient, courtesy of its plentiful amounts of beta-carotene and lutein. Lastly, chlorella has gained a reputation as an excellent detoxifying agent. It is purported to have the ability to bind to heavy metals as well as other toxic substances in the bowels.

Can I use Plant Protein at bedtime instead of Whey Protein to help raise human growth hormone (hGH) levels?
You could, but you will first need to add 6 grams of glutamine powder to Plant Protein, as it contains none while Whey Protein contains 6 grams per serving. It is the amino acid glutamine that is responsible for the maximal increase in human growth hormone (hGH) levels. One nutritional scientist writes, "Glutamine has been observed to raise serum hGH 430% above sedentary values. During sleep, 85% of hGH is released, and the 6 grams of glutamine in each serving of Hammer Whey are adequate to cross blood brain barrier to raise nocturnal release of hGH."
Secondly, in order to effectively elevate hGH levels, minimal-to-no carbohydrates should be consumed; carbohydrates blunt natural hGH release. Each scoop of Unflavored Hammer Whey contains no carbohydrates, all flavored versions of Hammer Whey contain 1.0 to 1.5 grams of carbohydrates per scoop, while all flavors of Hammer Plant Protein contain 5 grams of carbohydrates in each scoop. That may not sound like a very wide gap, but it's enough to make a difference when the goal is maximizing hGH release.
Does Plant Protein contain any soy?
No, there is no soy in Plant Protein.
Can I mix Plant Protein with warm-to-hot water instead of cold water?
It is completely acceptable to mix Plant Protein in whatever temperature of water you choose, without experiencing any loss of potency or benefits.
Can I bake using Plant Protein?
Yes, all 6 proteins used in Plant Protein are absolutely acceptable to use for baking.
Mix 2 level scoops (30 grams) into 8-12 oz. of water and consume immediately following exercise.
